Despite a tropical downpour for most of the day, there’s lots of smiling faces on the docks at Nanny Cay as 22 yachts have now arrived at the marina for the start of ARC Europe on May 7th. The remaining yachts are expected later today in time for a Welcome Cocktail Party at Peg Legs, our popular bar and restaurant right next to the docks. A good time to try one of the BVI’s most infamous exports –  the Pusser’s Painkiller!

This evening will be the first time for some of the participants to get together before the start at midday on Thursday. A large number of the crews already know each other well having taken part in the 15 month round the world event – World ARC which finished in late March in St Lucia. The welcome party will give everyone a chance to renew old acquaintances and also meet new sailors from around the world who are joining the rally for the first time. It’s a truly international fleet, with entries from 12 different countries.
