Dennis and Heidi on Centime are turning back yet again. Centime, who have been delayed in Beaufort after experiencing mechanical issues shortly after the start, have been forced to return to Beaufort only one day after re-starting.

Dennis reported his disappointment in an email to Rally Control:

“All,

We ran into some unexpected weather in our gulf stream crossing last night and suffered some damage. The stack pack took a wave and ripped out of the mast sending lines everywhere, the solar panels flew off and ripped apart the bimini and the autopilot crashed. Other than that, all’s well, and no one got hurt. I guess Centime was not quite ready for prime time this year after all! We are heading back to Beaufort for some significant repairs, but we did manage to get the autopilot running again.

VERY disappointed!!!

Dennis”
Ice Wars II and Emmy Kate have diverted to Bermuda for various reasons, and it appears that Surprise and Liberty are headed that way as well. Bella Corsa also appears to have diverted towards the Bahamas and will likely join the other fleet in Green Turtle Cay, though this is unconfirmed at this time.
