RBVIYC Youth Sailing Programme fundraising throughout Regatta

Sol Petroleum is hosting the Royal BVI Yacht Club (RBVIYC) Youth Sailing Programme at its tent in the Regatta Village during the BVI Spring Regatta.

The RBVIYC raffle is one of the biggest revenue producers for the junior sailing programme. This year there are two major prizes that appeal to the international visitors as well as to the resident community. Sol has donated one of the two grand prizes for the traditional, junior sailors fundraising raffle.  The winner of the Sol prize will enjoy a skippered charter on a Moorings 40 (3 cabins / 2 heads) for six days and five nights.  The other prize is a week’s stay for two people at the Bitter End Yacht Club valued at $6,000.

Tickets are $20 each and will be on sale at the Nanny Cay Chandlery and at the Bitter End Yacht Club in the run up to the opening of the Village. Tickets will also be on sale at the Sol tent at the Village and watch out for the junior sailors selling tickets in the Regatta Village.

As well as selling raffle tickets, the RBVIYC will be signing up resident and international individuals and families for membership of the sailing club.

“The RBVIYC Membership fees are remarkably low, particularly when compared to other Caribbean and Royal yacht clubs,” said Guy Phoenix, captain of sailing, RBVIYC. “Members enjoy numerous benefits, including substantial discounts for sailing events and with many BVI businesses. We also have reciprocal arrangements with many prestigious yacht clubs around the world.”

Earlier this year Nanny Cay teamed up with Sol to facilitate the collection of a donation from boaters fueling up at the Nanny Cay marina fuel dock. Funds raised from every gallon of Sol fuel sold are given to the RBVIYC youth sailing programme.

The youth sailing programme runs on Saturday mornings from 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. The aim is to encourage more beginners and new-starters to join, whilst also providing development for intermediate and advanced sailors.
