Visitors to this year’s 40th Anniversary BVI Spring Regatta (and Nanny Cay’s docks) will be able to marvel at a brand new superyacht that will be competing in the Spinnaker racing fleet. Launched in 2010, Yacht Aiyana is spending its first season in the Caribbean before heading to the Mediterranean for the summer months and will be docked at Nanny Cay Marina for the duration of the regatta.  Aiyana will be hard to miss with its 82 foot blue hull and very sleek low profile lines, which give it a very smooth look and style. Designed in New Zealand by the renowned firm Warwick Yacht Design and built by Alia Yachts in Turkey, Aiyana reflects the latest advances in yacht design, technology and interior luxury.

One of its most interesting design features is a lifting keel, which will enable it to cruise in the shallowest of waters and enable its guests to almost step off onto the beach. Whilst Aiyana possesses all of the interior luxury and comfort that would expect in a brand new superyacht it is also a high performance racing boat with a four-spreader masthead rig and boom that accommodates a full-batten mainsail for maximum performance.  The interior is sumptuous and exudes luxury at every step. Finished in Sapelle mahogany with textured fabric panels, Aiyana can accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 staterooms and is ideally suited for a large family or group of friends to charter. It even has a complete office suite enabling guests to stay completely connected to the real world should they wish.  During the BVI Spring Regatta, however, the crew of Aiyana will have their minds fully focused on showing off her capabilities on the race course.  For those of us wanting to follow her progress there will be no missing her with her very large red spinnaker!
