Yoga Mondays 7-8pm and Wednesdays 6-7pm at the Peg Legs beachside pavilion with Diandra Jones
Diandra began practicing Yoga as a teenager to prevent injuries during a rigorous five-year North American and European tour as a professional Irish Step dancer. Yoga offered a more conscious approach to exercise that enabled her to know her body better, protect it, and nurture it, to help it do what it needed to do.
“I was used to the adrenaline-rush necessary to pump out performance-after-performance in front of 2000-seat audiences, no matter how tired or injured my body was. Yoga initially challenged my patience and my notion of what exercise was. Gradually, your body and mind learn the benefit of slowing down and listening, and the sweat and sore muscles (afterwards) tell you that yes, you also got a good workout.”
Trained and certified by YogaWorks, Diandra began teaching Yoga to troubled teens thirteen years ago in Chicago Public Schools. She now teaches a combination of styles for all age groups and tries her best to make Yoga accessible to everyone, simply because she truly believes in its benefits. She has also taught in Ghana, Argentina, St. Thomas, and Dominica and is happy now to be welcomed into the BVI community, where she also teaches children and adult classes for the BVI Dance School and Killi Killi Arts Company.
