Over 40 Boats Registered For Round Tortola Race In BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival

The 2016 BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival is gearing up to be a “Year Not to Be Missed”, and the kick off will be the Round Tortola Race on March 29th. Over 40 boats have already entered for this year’s race.

Tradewind Yachting Services Relocates To Nanny Cay

Tradewind Yachting Services, now part of the Nanny Cay family, recently relocated to Nanny Cay.

Tradewind is the BVI’s authorised Yamaha dealer together with Caribe inflatables, Walker Bay dinghies and AB Inflatables.

Nanny Cay Doubles Backup Power Capacity

With the use of a truck crane, backhoe, a generator wrangler, and some engineers (see the pictures below), we have just doubled our backup power with the installation of a second 750 KVA generator.

With current loads, this addition gives us one redundant generator enabling us to use them on an alternating basis.

200 Youths Benefit From KATSWIM Programme in 2015

200 children between the ages of 4 to 17 years in the BVI went through the 2015 Kids And The Sea Swim (KATSWIM) session which drew to a close on November 14. The weekly swimming classes were held every Saturday across two terms at the swimming pool at Nanny Cay.

The first term took place May 2 – June 20 and the second term ran from September 5 – November 14 when certificates were awarded to the graduates of the different classes.

The 26th ARC Caribbean 1500 Wraps Up in Tortola

Fast passage and downwind sailing marks this year’s event, with all boats in to Nanny Cay now.

After a three-day weather delay thanks to late-season Hurricane Kate, and a fast passage at sea for most, the 2015 ARC Caribbean 1500 wrapped up in Tortola with the final prize giving on Monday, November 23, just in time for crews to get home for Thanksgiving.

RC44 Fleet Returns To British Virgin Islands

After its inaugural visit in 2014, the RC44 Class has returned to the BVI to hold the season finale of the 2015 RC44 Championship Tour here. Nanny Cay was the staging point once again and we watched these one-design racing machines emerge from their plastic-wrap chrysalises.

A slow Peg Legs Round Tortola Race this year; Boomorang wins overall

Boomorang, skippered by Doug Stewart, claimed overall victory in the 2015 Peg Legs Round Tortola Race on Saturday after a long and tricky day on the water.

The 46th edition of the Peg Legs Round Tortola Race started and finished off Nanny Cay. Eleven yachts entered the 37-mile race circumnavigating Tortola in an anti-clockwise direction.
