50 Days To First Start Gun In BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival
It’s 50 days until the start gun for the first day of racing in the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival.
A highlight is always the diversity of boats that participate across many classes – this year there will be some 18 classes – including boats who are in for the very first time, like the newly launched all-carbon HH66 NALA. Others, such as the J122 El Ocaso which has competed in the regatta for the past 10 consecutive years, just keep coming back for more.

The 27th ARC Caribbean 1500 Wraps Up in Nanny Cay
For the third time in six years, the ARC Caribbean 1500 got off a day ahead of schedule (November 5) to take advantage of a promising weather window to get the fleet south. Once offshore, it was a fast, downwind passage for the majority of the fleet, with a classic late-fall weather pattern in place, and no activity in the tropics.
Yachts began arriving into Nanny Cay just over 7 days later, on Saturday November 12, with the Amel 54 Phantom first to finish. They were closely followed by the Dufour 56 Pure Elegance, and the Nordhavn 57 motor yacht Jura. Each night as yachts continued to arrive events were held on the beach at Nanny Cay, including several cocktail hours, a pizza party and a couple beach barbecues hosted by Peg Legs. Horizon Yacht Charters held a popular and informative seminar on cruising the BVI.
47th Annual Pegs Legs Round Tortola Race Adds A Twist
The 47th annual Peg Legs Round Tortola Race organised by the Royal BVI Yacht Club (RBVIYC) and sponsored by Nanny Cay, will take place on Saturday, November 19th. Four classes – racing, performance cruising cruising and multihull – will compete in the 37-mile race. The course change for the 2016 race will give competitors more tactical choices to make.
Golden Arc Expedition Stops At Nanny Cay
Hitting the beach at Nanny Cay marked the 695th mile of paddling for Durham University students George Parry and Will McMcCreadie. In a mission to raise funds and awareness for their Get Exploring Trust (GET), they are paddling completely unsupported 2,000 miles from Grenada to Miami on the Golden Arc Expedition.
Docks Arrive For New Outer Marina
The unloading of the first 9 of 12 containers on the new peninsula at Nanny Cay heralded the arrival of the new docks for phase one of the new outer marina.
Two specialists from the docks’ manufacturers, Walcon Marine, arrived yesterday to start the Meccano-esque assembly of the pontoons. They are working with some of the Nanny Cay Projects team and Husky Salvage & Towing.
