Veuve Clicquot Island Invitational – Champagne Sailing to Foxy’s BVI Sailing Festival
The BVI Sailing Festival continued on Wednesday 1st April with the Veuve Clicquot Invitational Pursuit Race to Jost Van Dyke. Spectacular sailing through one of the most scenic routes in the BVI was the order of the day, with the added adrenalin rush of trying to catch the slower yachts that started the race before the high performance racing yachts.
Spookie wins Nanny Cay Cup: BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival
Racing got underway for the BVI Sailing Festival with the Round Tortola Race for the Nanny Cay Cup. White horses dotted the Sir Francis Drake Channel as the warm trade winds provided sparkling conditions for the 35 yachts taking part.
At the start just off Nanny Cay, the yachts powered to windward, playing the lifts from the southern shore before cracking sheets at Beef Island. Setting downwind sails for the long reach along the stunning northern shore the fleet got a taste of the Atlantic; surfing on ocean waves.
Sailors gathering at Nanny Cay; Round Tortola Race for Nanny Cay Cup tomorrow
Sailors from all over the world have gathered at Nanny Cay for one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular sailing events. The three-day BVI Sailing Festival is the pre-cursor to the BVI Spring Regatta and offers the international fleet the opportunity of tune-up races for the main event. Entries for the Round Tortola Race are up on last year, with at least 45 yachts expected to start the circumnavigation off Nanny Cay Marina.

2014 – A Look Back
2014 – another busy year at Nanny Cay. It started with one of those “ahhh” moments when we rescued a baby turtle from the marina and was then followed by reality shows, regattas, cruising rallies, boat shows, Atlantic rowers, round Tortola records, awards, and a lot of hauling boats!
Caribbean 1500 – long passage to Nanny Cay for some
After a one-day weather delay, and a long passage at sea for some, the 2014 Caribbean 1500 – a special 25th edition of the annual event – wrapped up in Tortola with the final prizegiving on Saturday, November 15 here at Nanny Cay.
Yachts began arriving into Nanny Cay late in the evening on November 10, with the 80′ carbon-fibre Falcon first to finish in just over 7 days. Nearly 24 hours passed before the next yachts arrived, with the Deerfoot 60 Crazy Horse – another World ARC veteran – narrowly edging out the Amel 54 Lone Star.
Pipe Dream takes Racing Class in 45th Annual Peg Legs Round Tortola Race; Triple Jack Wins Overall
On Saturday, 10 intrepid yachts set off into the teeth of 25-knot winds and rain in the 45th Peg Legs Round Tortola Race. Just under four hours later, vintage trimaran Triple Jack was first across the finish line off Nanny Cay, followed by Spike, a J/111, 47 minutes and 13 seconds later. Pipe Dream crossed the line just under 22 minutes after Spike.
Marina & Hotel Receptions Merge; New Mobile Fuel Carts
The Marina Office has moved. The Hotel and Marina reception, plus Captain’s Lounge and Lending Library, are now located in what was previously just the hotel reception. To ease congestion on the main fuel dock, and speed the entire refueling process, we are adding two mobile fueling carts to K dock.
