RYA Powerboat Courses Available in Nanny Cay

Nanny Cay has recently become home to Sailon BVI, the only provider of Royal Yachting Association (RYA) courses in the BVI. Previously located in Manuel Reef, Nanny Cay’s provision of dock, shoreside, and training facilities enabled Sailon BVI to retain its status as a “RYA Recognised Centre” and continue to provide world-class RYA training in a leading Caribbean marina.

Yoga at Nanny Cay

Yogis of all levels are welcome to experience the calm and relaxation of Hatha yoga at Nanny Cay beach. Taking place in the pagoda (the Nanny Cay stage for non-yogis 🙂 ) overlooking the sea, yogis will enjoy a one-hour yoga session in this beautiful outdoor setting.

Young Sailors Celebrated at 2014 BVI Dinghy Championships

Sunshine, calm winds, good food and fun entertainment made for a fun and enjoyable 2014 Dinghy Championships hosted by the Royal BVI Yacht Club here at Nanny Cay last weekend.

The three days of fun kicked off Friday night with registration, welcome party with fire show and music into the night by Bounce.

Nanny Cay - AIS Receiving Station

Nanny Cay adds AIS Receiving Station

There was a gap and we filled it. Nanny Cay is now an AIS receiving station and our receiver has a range of approximately 12.1 nautical miles.

The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is intended to help ships avoid collisions, as well as assisting port authorities to better control sea traffic. AIS transponders on board vessels include a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver, which collects position and movement details.

ARC Europe yachts depart Nanny Cay and elsewhere

Yachts sailing under the flags of 13 different nations set sail on Saturday May 3rd for their offshore adventures as part of two World Cruising Club Spring rallies; ARC Europe and ARC USA. Venturing west to east across the Atlantic, 34 boats will sail with ARC Europe this year.

BVI Dinghy Championships 2013

2014 BVI Dinghy Champs coming up

The Royal British Virgin Islands Yacht Club’s Annual Dinghy Championships will take place at Nanny Cay from May 16 to 18.

This is the flagship event of the Youth Programme, a showcase of the racing achievements, and a major fundraiser. The money fundraised in this event goes 100% to the Youth Sailing Development Programme in support of instructor wages and equipment maintenance, and acquisition.

Winners Awarded at 2014 BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival

Sunshine and 20-plus knot breeze welcomed participants to the final day of the 2014 BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival in Tortola. Three consecutive days of great racing made for an exciting weekend for competitors and the week-long festival drew more than 3,500 visitors to Nanny Cay.

With less than a week to go until the 43rd edition of the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival, a truly international cast is making ready to take centre stage in the beautiful sailing grounds off Nanny Cay and Tortola. 87 yachts have entered and not only is the number of entries larger than last year but there is real strength in depth, both in terms of the standard of the yachts and the sailors that will be racing.
