50 Days To First Start Gun In BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival

It’s 50 days until the start gun for the first day of racing in the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival.

A highlight is always the diversity of boats that participate across many classes – this year there will be some 18 classes – including boats who are in for the very first time, like the newly launched all-carbon HH66 NALA. Others, such as the J122 El Ocaso which has competed in the regatta for the past 10 consecutive years, just keep coming back for more.

2016: A Look Back

The year ended on a high note, as we opened the new outer marina after 17 months of construction. At a ceremony held at the entrance to the new outer marina on December 12, Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, declared the marina officially open.

47th Annual Pegs Legs Round Tortola Race Adds A Twist

The 47th annual Peg Legs Round Tortola Race organised by the Royal BVI Yacht Club (RBVIYC) and sponsored by Nanny Cay, will take place on Saturday, November 19th. Four classes – racing, performance cruising cruising and multihull – will compete in the 37-mile race. The course change for the 2016 race will give competitors more tactical choices to make.

J111 Spike Wins the 2016 Governor’s Cup

Twelve boats took to the race course to duke it out for the honour of adding their name to the Governor’s Cup trophy. A gloomy morning greeted the competitors but despite the promise of a wet day, the rain held off the race track. Starting off Nanny Cay, the course took competitors out to Pelican Island, up round Dead Chest Island, across to Hog Valley Green just off Road Harbour and then back to finish at Nanny Cay.

2015 Sloop Shootout goes to the Premier (Again); Martin Van Houten Honoured

Premier and Minister of Tourism, Hon. Dr. Orlando Smith, received his Great Festival Sloop Shootout trophy on the lawns of Nanny Cay last week for his victory in this year’s event.

Best BVI Marina 2015

We recently hosted this year’s Virgin Islands Property & Yacht Readers Choice Awards on the beach. In between the award presentations, the audience was able to enjoy Cruzan Rum cocktails, nibbles provided by Capriccio Di Mare and Brandywine Restaurant, and an aerial silk dancing display.

We collected our fifth “Best BVI Marina” award and Kyle was runner up as “Best BVI Bartender”.
