Transatlantic Training Run to BVI From Antigua
Team Antigua docked at Nanny Cay today after a 200-mile, 48-hour training row from Antigua to the BVI. Team Antigua are competing in the 2017 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, a 3,000 mile rowing race starting on December 12th in San Sebastian de La Gomera, Spain and finishing in Antigua. Australian yachting legend Jon Sanders and his faithful SV Perie Banou II, stopped off at Nanny Cay for a few nights on his record-breaking 10th voyage around planet earth.
Jon, now 78 years old, is taking one last circumnavigation of the world. Jon stopped at Reunion Island, Cape Town, and St Helena Island, before making his port of call here in the BVI. He is now heading towards Panama.

Record-breaking Chris Bertish spoke at Nanny Cay tonight. The 42-year old South African has just paddled unassisted across the Atlantic on a SUP, landing in Antigua on Thursday 9th March 17, after 93 days at sea alone.
Overcoming shark encounters, equipment failures, unfavorable trade winds, loneliness and huge swells, he became the first man to SUP across the Atlantic albeit 26 pounds lighter!

Hitting the beach at Nanny Cay marked the 695th mile of paddling for Durham University students George Parry and Will McMcCreadie. In a mission to raise funds and awareness for their Get Exploring Trust (GET), they are paddling completely unsupported 2,000 miles from Grenada to Miami on the Golden Arc Expedition.

The winning skipper of the 2014/2015 Volvo Ocean Race and double Olympic silver medalist visited the sailing centre at Nanny Cay and went out on the water with the team.
