Tradewind Yachting Services´ Chuck Steely has just returned from Atlanta as a freshly minted Yamaha Outboard Master Technician. Master Technician is the absolute highest certification a Yamaha technician can attain, and an elite few achieve this designation.

Nanny Cay is strongly recommending that all monohull boats remove their masts for the summer storage period but it is NOT a requirement.
We are separating monohulls stored without masts from those with masts. We believe boats stored without masts in their own area will fair better, and suffer less ‘third party damage’ if we have future storm events.

At 3pm on February 23, the Nanny Cay team righted the last boat in the boatyard that had been toppled by Hurricane Irma on September 6th.
Over 200 boats were moved in the process, with us having to move 80 boats to reach the 130 boats that had to be righted and re-chocked.

Hurricane Irma passed just over a month ago, and while we still have a long way to go, solid progress continues.
Sixty docks are due to arrive in November and be installed in the undamaged outer marina, this will give us just over 100 slips here. We hope to accommodate many of our guests here this season.

With current loads, this addition gives us one redundant generator enabling us to use them on an alternating basis.

Danny was the wake up call for the “quiet” 2015 hurricane season. Soon after it rolled off the African coast, it was christened Danny and rapidly grew from a storm to a category 3 hurricane.
Forecasters never deviated from their predictions that Danny would eventually succumb to strong wind shear and weaken if not dissipate completely.
However, you can never be too careful when it comes to hurricane preparation – once it’s too late it really is too late.
